Fettle – support

Help for the Fettle accessibility audit suite: the Scanner browser extension and the Workbench reporting app.

Fettle Scanner runs in your browser's side panel. It scans the page you are testing, records evidence screenshots, and guides you through the manual checks an automated scan cannot make.

Fettle Workbench is the companion reporting app. It collects the Scanner's findings alongside your own, tracks the audit checklist, and generates the report. Open the Workbench – it runs entirely in your browser, with nothing to install.

Common questions

Where is my audit data? On your own computer. The Scanner keeps its session in your browser's extension storage; the Workbench keeps its audit in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account. The privacy policy describes exactly what is stored and what ever leaves your machine.

How do I move an audit from the Scanner to the Workbench? From the Scanner's export actions, choose Send to Workbench tab with the Workbench open in another tab, and confirm the import there. You can also export the audit as a JSON file and import that file into the Workbench.

Why will a page not scan? The Scanner works on ordinary web pages. Browsers do not allow extensions to read their own internal pages or the Chrome Web Store, so those cannot be scanned – open the site you are auditing in a normal tab and start from there.

How do I back my work up? Export the audit as a JSON file from either product. The file contains the whole audit, including evidence screenshots, and can be imported again later or on another machine.

Reporting a problem

Describe what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead – with your browser name and version, and which product you were in. If the problem appears on a page you cannot share, say what kind of page it is rather than naming it; a public page that shows the same problem is the most useful thing you can send.

Contact. Support requests and questions about either product can be raised through the support contact on the Fettle Scanner listing in the Chrome Web Store.
